Learning Photograpy – Don’t think, Just shoot

I don’t know how I encountered the line. But it was pretty cool. If you understand the line, you would then understand the idea behind photography.

A lot of people are interested in taking pictures. Every event must be well-documented with dozens and dozens of pictures. I admit that I’m not camera shy. I love taking pictures and I love having my pictures taken.

While everybody’s going digital, I am kicking it old school and am using film cameras.

It’s a bit trickier than digital cameras since there would be no way you can review your photos and delete anything that you don’t like. So there’s an added thrill to the actual taking of photos. It’s a real challenge and it takes a lot of practice.

What’s more fun about it is that the cameras I use are really cheap. The gurus of the business call them toy cameras or lomos. So the art is called lomography. This is taking pictures with toy cameras.

The term was actually coined from the brand Lomograpische AG in Austria. It is actually their commercial trademark. They supply anything that is related to photography. And the emphasis of the art is on casual photography. Hence, we have the phrase: Don’t think, just shoot.

They have different kinds of cameras. There are even cameras that would have four lenses. There’s one that even has 9. There are cameras that you can do underwater lomography with. There are also cameras that give you prints with a vintage feel. There are also cameras that take panoramic pictures.

There are tons of techniques that you can do with film that you cannot do with digital unless you digitally edit the picture. Nothing beats the authenticity film prints.

You’ve got to try this out. This is one thing that you would surely enjoy.
