Why I want an oil filled radiator

An oil filled radiator would be perfect for heating my apartment in Japan. The houses and apartments here are built with earth quakes and the summer in mind so during winter months it often feels freezing cold.

I assume due to the risks involved, central heating is not a very popular option in this country. The only place I have noticed houses with central heating is in the northern island of Hokkaido that has temperatures below freezing for about four months of the year.

Cheap heating appliances are common here and there are a wide variety to choose from. Electrical heaters can be purchased cheaply but end up costing quite a bit to run. On top of this I do not like them so much because at more than a few feet away you hardly feel any warmth, but if you get too close they become painfully hot. Due to the extreme temperatures of exposed heating elements there is also the risk of a fire starting.

Another option is gas powered stoves that use paraffin and other types of light oils. Most newer models have a fan which makes them excellent at heating a whole room. The cost of the gas to run them is also relatively cheap. However there is a drawback with this type of home heating appliance in that they give off fumes which mean I have to keep the room ventilated, in other words, drafty! This kind of defeats the purpose of the stove.

When I spoke to my sister the other day she mentioned that she was planning on buying a Duplex oil filled radiator heater. It sounded interesting so I did some research of the internet.

Oil filled radiator heaters have a variety of useful features. While they are effective at heating rooms, the heaters do  not become dangerously hot. Nor do they give off any harmful fumes. These heaters are powered by electricity which heats up the oil contained within the radiator. This then warms the metal frame of the radiator itself.

Oil filled radiators may are an economical heating option well worthy of consideration.
